The Making of the JukeJam Music Videos

We’re sure by now you’ve seen some of our musicians’ incredible music videos. The journey, though long, was certainly fun and we thought we’d bring you along on the journey! So, here’s a little behind-the-scenes of how those videos came to life!

The Process Behind our JukeJam Music Videos.

Prior to our grand launch, one significant task loomed over us: producing the music videos! The undertaking was no small feat - we really wanted to produce something deserving of the talented musicians involved. We are immensely proud of these videos, but we won’t deny that it was a journey to get there!

The week begins

We began the week fresh-faced and eager, though our tight schedule gently haunted us. In just five days, we set out to bring twenty-three individual musicians into the studio to record their parts - a mammoth task by any measure! But, we certainly nailed it!

Most of our week was spent at Sun Street Studios, where Mark Eyden, our Audio Visual Producer, played an indispensable role. Across the week, our musicians moved in and out of his studio, nailing their parts and making some truly incredible music. And, after a week of long nights, early mornings, and countless cups of tea, we were finally ready to move on to the next step!

Then came the big day

The day for the video shoot began!

To say our morning started early would be an understatement. It went a little like this:

5am - The JukeJam Team set off for the venue. Cars were packed to the brim with equipment, instruments, and, of course, homemade sandwiches, and we were off to Blackfriars Priory in Gloucester.

A beautiful and historic venue, as soon as we arrived, we knew we had chosen the perfect place to shoot the videos. We had envisioned a space where clients could imagine their chic event or fairytale wedding - Blackfriars Priory was certainly the place for this!

8am - After scouting the space, our lighting team arrived. Cannock Sound proved to be the perfect fit, elevating the performances and capturing the essence of each band perfectly. They played a vital role in cultivating a great atmosphere!

Then, with the historic landscape of the setting and the stunning lighting from Cannock Sound, we knew we had a winning combination!

9am - Our first musicians arrived. The day was officially underway.

The Structure of the Day

We started off with the photo sessions, with Kevin Sharpe Photography capturing our musicians in numerous poses - smiling, non-smiling, casual dress, smart dress… Our musicians-turned-models stood before a black backdrop for their band photos before taking centre stage as we filmed multiple takes for each video.

Once we got into the groove, there was no stopping us.

While one group was shooting, our next band arrived. The room was a blizzard of activity, with photographers at one end of the room and the filming happening at the other end, whilst our helpers were constantly shuttling between the two! If anybody wanted an example of a modern production line, then this was it!

Two bands done, one to go.

We huddled together for a brief pep talk, which probably went a little something like this:

“Long week. Much work. Great job, folks. Very proud.” (Though I like to think it was far more eloquent than that.)

Finally, our last band stepped up to shoot their videos. At this point, people were starting to feel the fatigue of the long day, but we pushed through for one final effort.

The day comes to a close.

6pm - The day was done. We were all exhausted. The mammoth task had been accomplished!

The teardown process was unsurprisingly instant. In a blink, everything was disassembled and spread across the floor, whilst musicians carried bags, stands, and cameras out to the cars in an odd, metallic, daisy chain.

After a well-deserved stop at a service station to debrief, The JukeJam Team went our separate ways, tired but feeling entirely accomplished

11pm - The cars unpacked, the task complete, the day drew to a close.

But it wouldn’t be until the editing process that we realised how magic these videos really were.

Round 2: The Duos.

With each of our main JukeJam original bands comes a duo, perfectly packaged for your event. Each duo offers a unique touch, adding something special to any occasion. Naturally, this meant we couldn’t miss the opportunity to capture these performances on video!

Managing just six musicians this time, instead of the previous twenty-three, this sequel task was a lot easier! We had already recorded the audio, so all that was left was to set up the cameras and pass the baton over to Mark Eyden.

As always, Mark worked his magic, and these videos turned out to be nothing short of perfect!

And Done!

When founding JukeJam, we knew that we had strong support behind us; however, the sheer amount of hard work and dedication our musicians and our team put into this week was nothing but phenomenal. We are certainly blessed to be able to work with such incredible individuals.
